Jay clearly left NJPW to go to WWE. Anyone can see that with all the retarded "loser must leave Japan" and "loser must never wrestle in NJPW again" stuff. Not having to live in/spend most of your time flying to Japan any more is the other obvious factor. Jay is married now and has lived with his wife in Florida since well before he signed. Working in America means most of his contact with his family doesn't have to be through zoom

Jay didn't want to be patient and took the money. Not an issue getting paid but this is the downside. There are going to be a ton of guys feeling this same way over the next 3 years. Tony is not good at booking. He is good at spending. If he wanted truly beat WWE he'd just hire a booking committee or booker and oversee them. But this is about playing fantasy McMahon.

probably didn't want to go to NXT. given the choice to go to NXT and move up in time or go straight to a big contract in AEW is an easy choice although with how fast guys like dragon lee and the creeds have moved up i don't think it's not as bad as it used to be.

iirc correctly lee had it written is his contract that he wouldn't be in NXT for too long so it seems to be a reasonable compromise with bigger names where they can come and get used to working tv matches and then move up as opposed to guys like cole or whatever who refused to leave.

Both after WK15 and as he was leaving there were a ton of teases to him becoming at least a bit more of an honorable heel/tweener. Though I can see why with Covid he wouldn't really want to do it the first time and waste it when the fans couldn't cheer him anyway, plus Tama's face turn wouldn't have worked nearly as well without Jay as the top heel at the time to solidify it. If he ever goes back they will fucking love him though.
