They reported a 1 million dollar gate for each Forbidden Door, for their share alone.

The AEW partnership is basically giving them a second Wrestle Kingdom tier payday every year.

If I was him, I would leave honestly, get a spot in Bullet Club Gold, and coast in AEW.

He's pretty underutilized in NJPW and despite moving up to heavyweight, it doesn't seem they have much in the way of plans for him. Sticking him with the Tongans kind of felt like NJPW putting him on the shelf.

Honestly switching to heavyweight hasn't felt like a great move for him; I can't think of anything he's done since the switch that's been all that memorable. At least when he was in the Jr division his height would create a strong underdog dynamic for his opponents, and I could see him at least getting a shorter run with the Jr strap more easily than winning any of the hw singles belts.

He's in an awkward place since he's 37 now but his gimmick is of a fun younger guy and is virtually unknown outside the Japan fan bubble. It's hard to picture him being built up and given anywhere near what he's had in NJPW in AEW/WWE and that's knowing that he hasn't been a bigger player in any title scene outside some tag stuff while in NJPW. Maybe he could have a place in TNA but the money wouldn't be that great either.

If it simply comes down to living situation then just leaving Japan makes sense.

Tony isn't getting me to tune in to AEW for a few weeks I fell for that with Jay but I know the deal now.
Shame though, ELP was one of my fav guys when he was in BC. I really think the move to heavyweight killed his momentum, especially with hindsight and knowing now how bloated the heavyweight midcard scene is vs how thin the Jrs division is.
