He was over. Just not a guy you'd have as the face of the company. His gimmicks don't work when he's champion, especially the deadman. He had a based heel run and then Vince got a hard on for Brock and made Carder job to him without even making him pay dues. Remember he was gonna have Austin job to green Brock on a random RAW and had The Rock job to him too. Hell, he had everyone except Angle always put Brock over for almost 2 years. But Carder still deserved a couple more short reigns in 2002-2003 and I was always a fan of the mmmmbadass biker gimmick.

Except Undertaker didn't put Brock over at first. Their first match ended in a double DQ, which is also how the house shows were going. It brought Taker tremendous negative heat, because the company had been booked disastrously the prior year and they desperately needed new stars and it was obvious Brock was the guy for that. Hence why he put him over at MN '02.

Came in too late on the Orange County Chopper fad. Gimmick was cool, then the OCC show starting being cringe as fuck even for the hardcore rednecks, snake pants, gimmick obliterated.

The snakepants had nothing to do with killing the gimmick. He wore them for one PPV, even after being warned by his costumer they were a bad idea, he healised his costumer was right immediately after said PPV, and remained Bikertaker another three years. Almost to the date, as he wore the pants at Survivor Series '00, and retired Bikertaker at Survivor Series '03.
