Kelly was great at the start because he brought a real sports broadcast feel to NJPW
But after a while he kept getting more and more comfortable and more and more goofy, singing theme songs, making jokes and talking about twitter marks every 15 seconds. He became washed so fucking quick.

The weird thing about Kevin Kelly is the thing that was most notable about him in New Japan is how invested he was in all the stories, how familiar he was with everybody and how much effort he had clearly put into researching the promotion. He was really really good at getting people watching for the first time caught up with the show.

All of that just kinda vanished when he got to AEW. He kept mispronouncing names, he didn't know the moves, he didn't know the stories, he was very clearly NOT prepared and he just never really got any better, to the point where he clearly got demoted from 1st chair to 3rd chair of Collision. And he did bad business with New Japan, blowing off the rest of his dates and then kinda shit-talking the company in an interview? And then he went into business for himself feuding with Ian in public the day before one of the biggest shows in company history. Just dumb. Just really dumb. Kind of unfortunate, I enjoyed his commentary, but he's probably gonna fall out the bottom of the industry now.
