Muta, Chono, Liger, Taka and Shinzaki were the only Japanese guys I knew of growing up. It’s a good thing WCW had Japanese and Mexican wrestlers. I’d go on to become a smelly puro smark and I’m glad I had early exposure. Misawa is the GOAT though, OP.

True, people never bring this up but this caused Japanese wrestling to become really fragmented and decentralized in an unhealthy way

The only person that stayed loyal was Fujinami because he never became a draw due to Inoki not putting him over as the next generation until fucking 1989 (lol) when it was far too late for him.

Same thing with La Parka. The Chairman was super over, at the peak of his working career, had an interesting character, his gimmick was dimes, hell thanks to the mask and the PA gimmick he could even "talk". But WCW never gave him a single ding dang-didley title run.
