>>13953293 He wasnt bad at building, I think he was excellent at it. His problem was execution and payoff. Erics philosophy on how WCW and a show should be structured was both his success and his downfall. He always had to have an angle. A moment just couldnt exist on its own and be allowed to breath. There always needed to be a hook. Hogan had the same philosophy to degree which is why i think they got a long so well. The idea being “Ok, we do that, it sounds great, but then what?”
Look at Sting; they booked a terrific finish then backed out last minute cuz they were freaking out probably because they wouldnt know what to do afterward with him as champ. So they botch their own ending.
You go to goldberg. They dont know what to do with him just being champ, so they need to make a hook of it by making him lose. This leads into Nash vs Hulk which gets squandered because they cant commit to a definitive outcome and need another hook.
Now goldberg (supposedly) was supposed to run through the nwo to get revenge. That started fine with him besting both scotts but then it falls apart, because there was so many injuries happening, but i think thats just another excuse. For some reason hogan just goes on to lose against flair instead, but now flair is actually the bad guy somehow instead of being another triumphant moment that can exist on its own. Another damn hook while you left other great potential built storylines on the wayside.
