I watch Jeopardy daily and I can tell you that clicking the buzzer is an all too common topic with returning champs or people they bring back. Often people will mention going into Jeopardy their first time the one thing they were surprised by was timing your buzzer correctly. My guess is that there is some kind of delay from when you push to when your podium lights up. It throws lots of people off. Buzzer technique is a think with hardcore Jeopardy players.
