AEW fan here coming in peace. What a great PPV, or I guess PLE as y'all say lol.
Not to sound like a salesman, but I think you all would really enjoy Dynasty in a couple of weeks. We have some of the best dream matches in a generation planned.
Apparently, I am working on getting YouTube to provide it for a lower price too.

Professional wrestling isn't real, bro, it's scripted entertainment. I'm not sure if you got the memo or not. If all you do is show up and wrestle, then by definition, you cannot be the best professional wrestler.

The best all-around wrestler in AEW right now is likely MJF, even if he was buried by shit booking for the last 4 months of his title run. If Jay White could get out of this Trios quagmire, he'd be up there as well. Moxley/Danielson if they could get off this self-masturbatory smark merry-go-round bullshit are still among the best. And of course Hangman Page, when he's given prolonged microphone time (and when he's not in his feelings), has never not knocked it out of the park.

Taking turns doing moves to each other is something you can see at any indy show, with varying levels of athleticism and technical expertise. It's not all that impressive. Ospreay needs a lot of work getting people to give a damn about his matches beyond "I do good wrestling matches". He'll have several years to get there.

E-drone here. In all honestly I bet I would enjoy AEW PPVs, but I don't enjoy AEW weekly TV and I've given it so many chances. I don't follow the builds and so it's very tough for me to be convinced to pay money to watch a show, even if the matches are very exciting, when I won't enjoy what happens next week. I've seen clips of Ospreay and he's certainly very impressive.

You will never make them break kayfabe. No matter how hard you will try, being over in /pw/ means more to these guys than anything. Indy feds aren't important unless they make you want to watch, if not every show, then most of their shows they run each year

Like imagine watching 2 NPB baseball games per year, who fucking cares? Who is getting a subscription or buying a jersey or buying a Japanese video game based on watching 2 games per year? Probably nobody, no matter how great the games are. If watching those 2 games doesn't make you want to start watching 20 or 40 or 80 games per year, then they ultimately failed in converting you into a fan.

Businesses thrive off having clients, not having cheerleaders. A local business having a million followers on Instagram doesn't mean anything if they're not putting money into the register.

in all actuality i always try to at least watch the main event of aew ppvs (on baked) because they tend to put on good ppvs. its just i cant stand the weekly tv.
frankly, i think its the opposite problem with wwe where i like the weekly tv, the ppvs can be boring.

Watching AEW now is like watching 2017-2019 WWE desu.
There's just no momentum or anything going on. The matches are good, but I find it hard to care. Good matches are common everywhere so I need something more than just that. It's not like RAW has shitters like Matt Morgan or something out there.

Basically, AEW's best points were like 2019-2021 because the product was new, it felt like things always happened on shows, storylines advanced and mattered, and even if the talent wasn't that great you knew it was only going to get better. But then after those years you realize that things didn't get all that better, the storylines were wearing thin because it's one guy writing them which means there's only so much eh can write creative for and that nothing really happened on these shows.

And you can only do that so many times. It's especially uneventful when it's an NJPW name not known outside of the hardcores

A decade from now, AEW can have run-ins from guys like Jericho, Omega, MJF or other originals who (semi-)retired years earlier or spent a few years in another company. Until then, they have to find a way to provide more surprises: celebrities, King of the Indy/Cardona types, they all work. You don't have to book Shaquille O'Neal in a 60 minute Iron Man match and bury your company, but Shaq marching to the ring to snatch a chair out of Wardlow's hands is the kind of thing that pays for itself in terms of publicity.

Aaron Donald just retired, if I'm Tony Khan, I'm on the phone with him trying to find out if he's ever been a fan of wrestling, who I have on my roster that he likes or would want to work with, and talking numbers and physical involvement. That's going to move the needle 100x more than Mustafa fucking Ali or Zolph Diggler.
