He slightly did, to be fair. I was just looking at wee viewership over the last 5 years and it's been on a consistent but slow decline from 2.2mn in Jan 19 to 1.3mn in Oct 23. Rock has popped averages back up to 1.8mn since January. So he's done something, just not very much.

Because he’s The Rock. Before he was a Hollywood star he was the most electrifying man in sports entertainment and he and Austin carried the Attitude Era on both of their backs winning the Monday Night Wars as the giga draws of all giga draws. Being in Hollywood and actively staying in the public eye has only helped him keep that relevancy over the years if not even further build on it. It’s cool to “hate” on Rock for some now and zoomers will chalk up how over he is due to his Hollywood career since that’s what they grew up with but this man at his peak as People’s Champ Rock was as over as Austin if not more on some nights. He and Austin are non negotiable 1a and 1b of the Attitude Era and the WWF realistically might not have won the Monday Night Wars against WCW if they didn’t have both of them.
