I just watched a Japanese wrestling match from the 80s and it was actually one of the best matches I've ever seen. I'm not sure I can work the anti-smark gimmick anymore.

Never say smark. That term makes no sense. There are marks and their are obsessive freakazoid marks. The IWC guys who say new Japan and aew are the best have literally never watched anything Japanese from before 2014. They also don't watch wrestling, they obsess about it on twitter.

Yeah those old strong style matches in the tokyo dome are sick. Crowds are red hot as soon as the bell rings and they react to everything because stiff strikes and submissions actually won matches.
You watch a modern njpw match and you can hear a pin drop when it isn't the final stretch
