Personally if you want to talk about a great gimmick match that AEW should be back it's the "ring surrounded by video games" match. It showed a lot of potential but it just ended up being guys getting hit with cardboard boxes they pretended were arcade cabinets.
They had it set up where it looked like wrestlers could win prizes aka weapons to use by turning in tickets, but they did nothing with it. Not once did someone use a video game controller to control their opponent. And they didn't even do the spot where they pretend lose arcade buttons are thumb tacks.

I actually liked it. No idea why everyone says its terrible. Sure it was no Ospreay vs Danielson but it was a decent match

I mean original ones not the already established ones
the ones at the stadium are nice but once a year, same with blood and guts
silly shit and gimmicks is what gets people interested, not much 60 minute technical draw classics

The Gucci/new money/gamer/streamer gimmick from Miro was good and I won't be bullied into pretending it wasn't. Uncanny in a kind of Kurt Angle way and it was getting at something real in the culture at the time

That would have been a great gimmick match for Jericho's feud with CM Punk back in 2012 where he mocked his family and tried to drove Punk into an alcoholic.
