I get what you're saying, OP, but I think that the way I see this storyline is gonna hinge largely on how things progress now.
If they just suddenly stop having the Blackpool Combat Club doing pseudo-recruitments, then yeah, it's gonna be way too obvious for me that this past month of storyline was solely focused on getting Yuta, and it doesn't feel natural at all.

When Beretta made that heelish promo telling Yuta that he was gonna show him he could learn from his own friends, I thought he was gonna get destroyed so that Yuta would serve as a contrast. Instead, Beretta went on an even pace with Bryan and William Regal was even going like "Oh, he's so good, if only he wasn't with those absurd jokers!!", and this was after he said basically the same thing about Chuck Taylor too.
Either ways, I'm keeping a "Wait and see" approach for now.
