It didn’t really “fail” they just got fucked over by a merger. Even if the ratings weren’t in the shitter they were going to get cancelled. Impact is a failure of a promotion and so is Ring of Honor, the only difference is those brands are being kept alive by the people who bought it while Vince killed WCW

It was fun, don't know if it will be any good today. But for the time, I watched WCW way more than WWF. It had a good variety of wrestling.

I'd like to try watching WCW from 96-99 when my current WWF watch has ended (I started watching back Raws and PPVs from March 1998 four years ago and now currently in October 2001 so running out of content to watch during cardio.)
However what puts me off is WCW's production style. I never liked it, I don't like Schaivone's voice, and in general I prefer how McMahon/Dunn produced WWF. On one hand I'm looking forward to stop watching WWF because the invasion angle sucks really hard, but on the other hand I'm not sure if I can get into the WCW product even if 1996 was when it got hot.

So you have never seen NWO or Sting vs. Hogan? Because that's "only" 18 months. We know the match sucks, but the story and build were awesome.

nope, so those are main things for me. I also know about its midcard being strong. I feel an overlooked aspect of the WWF during this period was that - despite the Austin babyface run - the midcard absolutely sucks until Jericho comes along in August 1999. A good midcard is what helps me watch hours of this content during my cardio sessions, ultimately.

What's weird about WCW, is that their midcarders were leagues better than the main eventers.
A good amount of the main event matches after Hogan arrived, sucked ass.
The midcarders really carried the promotion from then on.
It's kinda interesting to watch. I've never seen anything quite like that before.
