Miz and Lumis beefing is actually an elaborate scheme concocted by Ciampa to fuck with Johnny Gargano and restart their feud. Ciampa turned Dexter against Johnny, claiming that Johnny could have saved Dexter's job but refused to do so. Miz then hired Dexter to fake stalk him but pretended he didn't pay him to draw Johnny out of retirement and get him involved, so Dexter could turn on him.
The plan is Dexter will become Miz's bodyguard and Cody will feud with Miz and occasionally tag with Gargano against Miz/Ciampa.
