Back in 2009 when the Von erichs were inducted into the WWE HoF, i remember a shoot interview with Kevin von erich becoming the talk of the wrestling forum i used to post in. The guy who uploaded it had one of those xXx_Edgelord_xXx kind-of names but was actually a pretty cool user that marked out for any new WCCW stuff he could find because he had basically watched it all. Anyways, one day i log in and see a thread with 100+ replies (Which was a note-worthy occurance because the forum wasn't big by any means), the subject being: "Kevin von erich shoot". The edgelord explains that he was torrenting some fan cam footage of live events after the 1st parade of champions but was surprised to find, at the bottom of the file list, an MKV file titled "KVE Shoot 00-00-00". He had already watched the first seconds of it before making the thread but i had to scroll down about 20 or 30 replies before he could convert it to a format that the site supported, eventually he did upload it and that's when the thread blew up
The video start with a shitty "title card" and after that the first thing we see is Kevin von erich sitting in front of a white wall. The off-screen interviewer starts asking the usual questions about travel in the territories, how did they used to call matches, what was the booking process, etc, Eventually the interviewer touches the topic of his brothers and the video goes black for a moment, when we're back with Kevin it's obvious that he was crying. The interviewer says: "Let's try to get that again, ok?" and Kevin starts explaining:

The first time they went to texas stadium to set up how the event was going to get taped he felt a jab in his stomach as soon as he got out of the car. The pain got sharper and sharper the closer they got to where the ring was supposed to be, he didn't want to worry the brother he had left so he just excused himself and went straight home. When arrived at the front gate of the ranch it all became a blur, he said, but somehow he made it to the old couch inside the house. There, the phone besides the couch ringed right into his left ear, the pain got sharper but he felt the need to answer it. The pain had his head so out of it that he could barely make out the voice in the phone talking about how "the parade of champions must not happen", that "David's sacrifice had to be done", that "the damned musn't be honored" or else "there will be consequences", he wanted to let what he supposed was a bad prankster know what he thinked of him but he just passed out.
When he came back to it Fritz and his brothers were calling for him, worried that he had or was about to do something stupid. Kevin breaks down again and in the middle of tears recalls how he got off the floor, opened the door and everybody walked the dinosaur

Inoki produced a lot of great technical matches during that time period. I imagine you have already watch Inoki Vs Robinson
What i love about these kind of matches i how they keep it simple yet entertaining. That makes it very exciting when they build up to a suplex, or any other more impactful move

No doubt. A lot of times, them locking-up sounds like a chop, and they were very intense when grabbing a headlock too

I recently started mid-south from the start of '84 and i'd say it's very beginner friendly. Cornette and the Midnight just arrived to get right into a feud with Magnum and Wrestling II, while the Rock n' roll express basically comes in immediately after.
Regardless of what year you choose, keep in mind that TV shows aren't complete products so to speak. Try to look up some house show matches in-between episodes because the industry wasn't TV-centric yet, as it would become in the 90s

Mid south is probably the best place to start. Not sure about that far back though. Great angles and the in ring style is probably the most modern outside of top level JCP.

To me the most fun discovery in Mid South was how good Hacksaw Jim Duggan was. I was so use to him as the fat guy who didn’t try in WCW or one of the least interesting baby faces in WWF. But in mid south he was fantastic.

That happened to a lot of territory guys when Vince got them. One of the bushwackers explained that in Portland he was a wrestler, but in the WWF he was a celebrity, so he became a cartoon for the money
