I think he should lose them in a handicap match.
If they are going to tell a believable story, where he fights with all his heart, but still loses, it will get him mad over. A good moment to transition into singles.
Can't picture him with another tag team partner. It's easy to make it happen, but will be MEH like 100%.

Have him defend them a few times in the most fire babyface style then he faces a heel team that has a bit of history with him that cheats him the titles and then talks a heap of shit until he either gets a tag partner to win them back or chases another ROH/AEW title.
