Shows will happen live on ppv. But if you are poor, you can just get a new japanned world subscription and watch them week to week split up. There are no more strong TV taping type shows. They are literally marketing it as here’s the option for the poor people.

Wonder if this means they're gonna start doing more PPVs. This would probably mean they'd have to do one PPV every month a half if they wanted to have weekly content every week. Unless of course they just made some episodes be one 20 minute match to make up for it.

Either way, nothing changes on this end. I'll continue pirating anything that doesn't come with the NJPW World subscription.

I used to occasionally watch NJPW STRONG matches while pirating when live. Now I will pirate 100% of NJPW Strong live shows. They think people might pay and wait for like the match they want to air week 4, but if it’s out there especially live people will just watch however they can/want.

Dave Meltzer said in the podcast that they were bringing the TV Asahi crew for the production of Battle in the Valley. Hopefully that's something they do for all of these now. It would be a big plus for them over other very indie US companies.

This new version just sounds very poorly thought out. No one is going to consistently pay $40 for these very mediocre USA Strong PPVs, if they pay at all. As a pretty loyal NJPW World subscriber for years I find it annoying that I’ll have to wait 4 weeks to see a complete show.

Either bring all the boys from Japan over and do a full, real show or don’t. These 1-2 decent matches with a bunch of indie-tier jobbers is dimeless.

They're 20 dollars on FITE. But like, that's still potentially 12 PPVs if they intend to have actual weekly strong. And they've got 2 right after each other already booked with Captial Collision and Collision in Philidelphia on April 15 and 16. Which suggests to me they do intend to try and do it.

They will have four events by the end of April, with Battle in the Valley and Strong Style Evolved before the Collision events. I would expect Forbidden Door 2 in the summer again. It’s good to make frequent US appearances.

The Hattori thing is not so much a screw-up but a slight fumble. Tiger was really pursuing Matt Riddle and Jeff Cobb as a tag team, and wanted to bring both in for World Tag League followed by getting them singles runs in NJC and G1. The problem was he didn’t do a background check, and Riddle’s prior weed suspensions in UFC prevented New Japan from signing off on it. Instead Riddle signed with WWE and Cobb made his debut teaming with Michael Elgin for WTL 2017.
