Before the main event between Sami and Roman at EC, the WWE title is vacated by Roman. It's given to Cody who then vacates the title before WM. It's given back to Roman who then beats Sami and Cody in one night before vacating the title again. Sami and Cody face off to see who is the number one contender with Cody winning. The vacated title is then given to Sami who faces Cody for the title. Cody loses.
