I have 200+ tapes (not wrestling) and I've only noticed deterioration on the ones I've watched the most. Also depends on the VCR.
In general they all have a grainy quality and look like shit on modern tvs, but I like the novelty of it as a collector.

They say that, but I’ve bought and sold hundreds over the last 5 years and rarely come across a dud. In fact the 80s tapes are usually better quality than 90s. The problems arise when they are stored somewhere damp can get to them. People say the same about DVD’s having disk rot, but I read the other week they expect the disks to live 200 years. I think a lot of it is just BS designed to make us consume next product.

VHS and cassette collecting are the most wasteful NPC behavior I've ever seen. More expensive, less convenient, deteriorates with use, no added definition or detail that you'd get with something like vinyl. Cassette media in 2023 is purely for people who don't think and get sucked up by whatever nostalgia fad they're supposed to get sucked up by.

Not if you browse goodwill stores and thrift shops, most of them have libraries of tapes. Also tape trading is still a thing, make some friends on trading forums and do it that way, most people will sell you copies of tapes super cheap if you don't have anything to trade them for it.

Do you like ECW? Wwf seems to, for the most part, be the same that’s on the network, Ecw though is completely different with having all the licensed music taken out of it. I wouldn’t mind collecting all the ecw payperviews there’s not actually that many of them, and it’d probably be too difficult to get ecw on tnn or ecw hardcore tv on vhs but I’d like to see it as it was originally broadcast.

Depends. I think the ship has sailed desu. I’ve been doing it a good number of years and the last two were peak prices. Demand is down now though could be inflation related or just that I haven’t freshened up my stock in a while (boomers started getting delusional with their wholesale pricing). I normally find a couple of tapes in every batch that pay for the lot, and then even if I sell the rest for pennies it’s 100% profit. Finding the right Ex Rental tape or pre cert horror is where the big bucks are.
