Everyone realized that it wasn't going to achieve its intended goal. Its goal was to develop a crop of new talent that could usher in a new boom period. But, when NXT produces a good talent, they usually get wasted on the main roster like LA Knight. Until vince dies WWE is going to suck and that's that.

They had good booking for a while thanks to Dusty Rhodes. After Dusty's death, and after they finished out his booking plans, NXT adopted more of a modern indies influence. Both NWA and indies styles are popular with the hardcore wrestling fans along with dirtsheet writers. But when they moved to 2.0, the style changed to a politically correct take on the New Gen era but without any of the fantastic workers and talkers.

The state of the fucking redditors itt. NXT black & gold was bad as a regular brand and atrocious as a developmental show. The smarks transitioned into AEWtists so that's why that era ended, and now they're using it as an actual DEVELOPMENTAL show. People down there shouldn't be trying to have 5 stars matches for Daddy Meltzer, there should be learning and improving so they can be successful in the future.

NXT B&G was great, what wasn't great was having people called up with complete overhauls, repeating their NXT story, or getting jobbed out. Instead of the main roster being a continuation of their NXT work, it was a death sentence.

All of the NXT nerds that deluded themselves into thinking supporting NXT somehow meant they were supporting an alternative product to WWE jumped over to watching AEW. It's the same Reddit crowd that sent Triple H a fruit basket like 10 years ago. They're wannabe smarks that pretend they watch indie and Japanese wrestling, and because they're vaguely aware of who Jay White is, that puts them above all of the "e drones."

LA Knight's far from the only example of NXT talent that gets called up to the main roster and completely flounders. EC3 got totally buried. Bobby Roode went from being the top guy in NXT to being a tag team lackey to other guys. Samoa Joe was a glorified midcarder that jobbed to main eventers until he was shoved off on commentary for a year, then booted back down to NXT before getting fired. Guys like Andrade and Aliester Black barely did anything worthwhile on the main roster. Bo Dallas and Neville were two of the earliest NXT Champions and only ever appeared on Raw to job to somebody. The majority of NXT main eventers got completely buried once they hit the main roster.
