The chair spins around.
Her slight grin is not as reassuring as she must think it is. Her black hair and eyes highlight her snow white skin. Age has shown its mark upon her, despite some well done makeup and cared-for skin; she appears to be in her 40s. Her desk is empty save for the phone, a triple monitor computer on the side, a handful of papers. There's no picture frames in the room. None of her family or coworkers. It is just the Director and her work.
"Fiona," speaks the director of the Stormwatch. Her voice is clear and distinct; refined, yet stately. Most certainly not spineless like some you've heard here. "I see you didn't burn the letter. Good. Consider this your interview for this position."
The door shuts behind you.
Katriina Jousten leans back in her luxurious office chair, hands together. "In my search to make the lives of Stormwatch agents much safer, I've directed and grew the research and development department. It needs volunteers, in a part time, on-demand basis. The production rate of projects deemed worthy of trial are not enough to completely subsume your duties as a Trollslayer, nor would I want them to. You are still obligated to dispatch the filth that crawls under the streets of Helsinki. And I require that you must, for these trials need to be conducted by someone capable of using them. Someone who will not lose them to the hands of those that shouldn't have them. Am I understood?"
"Yes, Ms. Jousten."
"Good. You won't be coming down here, often... usually, you will simply be given trial equipment to use on your typical missions." Ms. Jousten's smile rises to a crease on one side. "Though I can imagine a few that will require monitored testing in controlled environments first. And, for more ambitious projects, I will be joining you on these sorties myself, as testing them would require more ambitious targets for a Level 1 such as yourself, even with the guiding hand of most Level 3 agents."
Okay... so you shouldn't expect any real change in schedule or departure from the coworkers you've grown accustomed to. The only thing that might be changing is, when assigned, your equipment will be something of a mystery box.
"Do you have any questions for me? I prefer to get these out of the way first. Avoid the obviously confidential topics. I am not telling you what you are going to be using until it is in your hands."
>"So what was the deal with the ACDD? Were you trying to make a robot vampire?"
>"This place is feels really old. What's the story with this place?"
>"Did anybody else I know follow up on this offer?"
