“I’m not a millionaire myself, but I did receive funding to do this.” You start clarifying. “As for how serious this is —although we’re new— I managed to get Punk-P. Aside from her we have one emerging idol named Vortexia, and another idol group called the Bluesberries who are gathered around Ambition-P. The agency is still new, but we’re already bursting with talent. So much so that I’m not confident of running it on my own. Which is why I want your help, Emily.”
“It doesn’t sound made up when you lay it out like that.” Emily’s doubts are mostly gone, and she’s quite surprised by how deep this rabbit hole goes. “I’d love to support you in this, it sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
“Great!” You were prepared to call Debbie AND Pumpkin Pie in case she still had doubts. “We’ll figure out the details later. I don’t want to turn our date into a recruitment process.”
“It’s not like I know any better.” Emily giggles at her self-deprecating humor. “You know well that I trust you.” Emily handholds you with both hands, and coyly smiles. You smile back. Before this turns into whatever it was turning into, the food arrives.
The plates are laid down, you two enjoyed a nice meal together, including desserts, which Emily greatly enjoyed! Maybe sugary food isn’t to her liking anymore, but nobody said anything about Watermelons! Anyway, it was great for what it was, and the price isn’t hurting your wallet. You two end up chatting about how the Agency came to be. Emily was greatly interested as to how the heck you got involved, but then things took a turn to more mundane topics. The date is going well.
The next step in the evening is to relax at the nearby park, it’s a good spot to have a leisurely time with a loved one. Emily has no issues walking alongside you while grabbing your arm, she’s not the type to be stopped from the embarrassment. She’s more assertive than what you’re used to!
“I never pictured myself going on a date like this.” Emily decides to shift the conversation as you walk through the greenery. The parks in this city feel like their own little forest, somehow you can’t even see a building no matter how far you look into the distance.
“Expected something more exciting?” You say in jest.
“No, I figured I’d never be on this side of the equation. Just thought I’d be looking from afar, bitterly heckling those couples in my head. Getting frustrated watching them flounder their dates.” Emily is aware of her previous resentment. “I thought it was so simple, just do a little bit of this, a little bit of that, don’t say this or that. They want to be with you, you can’t screw this up, so go in! It’s easy!”
“I get what you mean.” You nod like your dating skills are something to write home about. “Can’t say I thought dating was easy though.”
