"I'll consider it?" You pry his hand off your shoulder. "I think you might need to pay for a shrink to handle him, though." Adam just gives you a weird look before shaking his head.
>You may now hire Benedict and get a decent payment for bringing him on a mission! <span class="mu-r">You'd imagine his instability might cause some problems, though.</span>
"Asked him about that. He refused. Something about a voice advising him not to? I dunno." Adam mumbles something you can't quite make out. "I really don't know what I'm doing here. That's all I can really say." You nod your head. You pat him on the shoulder, "Just keep doing your best, okay? Just be a good friend to him."
"Pft. If I was, we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with. Thanks for hearing me out, I guess." "No problem."
You turn your attention over to Max. She's sitting down on one of the platform's seats, watching Benjamin doing his work with an odd look in her eyes and a goofy smile. <<span class="mu-b">"Fucking dork. Stupid idiot. Adorable~"</span>>
You sit down next to her, "Say, Max? I bet you have some GREAT advice on how to handle today's mission." You swear you nearly hear her neck snap from how quickly she turns to look at you.
<<span class="mu-b">"Buttering me up, huh? I suppose I can humor her."</span>> "Why indeed I do. What kind of advice, though? You gotta be a bit more specific."
"You're a people person, right? You know. Rich family, many connections, shit like that. You gotta know how to handle whoever's working there from a social standpoint." The smug smile Max is giving you disappears for a moment. She clicks her tongue while tapping her feet on the floor.
"Yeah. From what you told me, it sounds like he fucked up with whoever he partnered with. I imagine he messed up the wording in his contract somewhere if they can do this without him really having any power to stop it. You DON'T fuck with contracts, Nicole." She wags her finger at you like a stern mother. "Lest you want the Head to intervene."
[PERSON OF INTEREST] Let's not get the closest thing to a City government on our asses. Thanks. "Yeah, no, of course not."
"And I imagine they know he can't do anything about it. The only way they would even humor letting him back in to deal with negotiations if we <span class="mu-b">bested them</span> in some way. Probably in a game of some kind. The risker, the better."
[UNSTABLE] An incredibly fucked up thought crosses your head. You do have a shotgun and a revolver. A weird smile crosses your face. "Like Russian Roulette?" You're not sure what that weird slang term, "Russian", means.
Max gives you a weird look but nods her head, "Yeaaaahhh but let's maybe not immediately go to life or death games. Point is, we'd have to convince them that it's worth gambling away, say, a better deal with the Handler. Or we can just break in and fight our way out." Besting them at a game? Could be fun.
Before you have time to dwell on it, the train to District 16 pulls into the station. About time to get out of here.
