The Bidemon had been pushed to their limits. Their assault on the Golimon had failed and they'd been driven out from their Scrapland homes back into the Ancient Ruins they came from. Only- these were warmer. More humid. Not exactly identical to where they originated from...
The Bidemon had gone as far as they could go without stepping into the deadly shallows or continuing to fight the Golimon head-on despite their losing (lack of) strategy. All that awaited them now was the ocean. That, or a whole lot of pain...
Unprepared and unwilling, the mon thrust themselves into the sea and desperately attempted to learn how to swim. As mon after mon disintegrated, surviving Bidemon would learn from their mistakes.
They couldn't swim. They needed some kind of propelling mechanism.
They couldn't learn to swim, even with a propelling mechanism, and it was hard to submerge. They needed to grow heavier and longer legs to compensate. That would help them swim better.
Trial and error after trial and error eventually produced a new, unnatural stage for the Bidemon...
