“About you or the Thanagarians?” You say, a wily smile appearing on your face.
She narrows her eyes and you can see her grinding her teeth. She says nothing and turns around and leaves.
You enjoy the water and bread. The fast from long space trips are best broken by something simple. It’s how you’ve always felt. You also use this time to nap for a precious few hours. You needed it.
Soon after you wake, you hear the ring again. This time behind the door is the Flash, a beaming smile on his face as always. “Hey. The crew wants to see ya for the questioning.” He says.
“I’ll be right there.” You reply.
A somewhat awkward silence follows. He breaks the ice. “You know, for what it’s worth, I trust you.”
“Why?”
He shrugs. “A hunch.” You accompany him into the hall, then begin your walk towards the bridge. “If you ever hop by Central City, I gotta show you a taco place there. It’s delicious.”
“Tacos?”
“Oh, uh… A dish from earth. It’s pretty good when it’s done well.”
The Flash speaks about all the places in Central City he’d like to take you if you ever have the time. A question gnaws at your mind. “Why do you think the League will let me come to earth.”
He smiles. “Well, Superman is a trusting guy, as am I. J’onn and John generally like to give people a chance. I think Wonder Woman liked you from the beginning. So that’s five votes against Batman’s and Hawkgirl’s. They’re uh… A bit more cautious.”
It seems you’ll have to watch for those two. “I’m glad you trust me.” You let out a friendly smile and the Flash taps you on the arm in a friendly manner.
“We’re never short on heroes here.” The Flash says as he opens the door to the bridge. There, the League awaits seated at a table. The Flash takes his seat and you take the remaining empty chair.
Superman speaks first. “Nao’Lann. I’d like to tell you that whatever decision we take at this table, we will offer you our full support, whether you may remain here at Earth or you have to leave. We will provide you with all you need.”
You nod. “Thanks.”
The Martian follows. “Although there is much we do not know about our guest, it is undeniable that he has been straightforward with his intentions. He has not attempted to hurt any of us, nor as he tried to sneak onto the planet. Still, I believe it would be safest to proceed with an interrogation in order to understand his situation.”
Hawkgirl rises to the occasion. “I’d first like to ask our guest what species he belongs to.”
The green lantern rubs his eyes. “Really? Is that where you’re taking this?”
