You leap from the brush and toward the clay pot. The flames of the campfire scald your body as you haphazardly press the clay pot onto your back. A bolt of pain runs through your body and everything goes black.
You rouse seconds later, amid a din of combat. Everything is chaos—you couldn't hope to figure out who is what with the campfire now put out. You want to writhe in pain, but the threat of death quickly drowns your body's screaming. Now equipped with a shell you spring into action, attempting to grab the closest figure. He nimbly dodges your lumber, but the calling of such specific muscle memory throws him off.
"Cook!?" He calls.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" Princess Daisy screams. "DID YOU CLOSE THE CRUISER DOORS?"

"SHIP! NOW!" She and Luigi bolt into the wilderness, and you (thankfully) hear professor E. Gadd's voice among them. A pit forms in your stomach as you recall the toad on-board the Daisy Cruiser. You can't believe what you've done.
