Before going in, you two decided that the best song for this occasion is her most melancholic piece, albeit with changes to fit the moment, some lyrics changed to include apologies and things alike. This song is immensely popular, it skyrocketed Carol’s career, and to this day, it’s still one of her most requested songs during concerts.
YUNG-P puts her game face on and you put your boombox face on by turning the boombox, err, on. The karaoke version of Carol’s first hit starts blasting through the room! The best idol of the country does her number as professionally as she would in front of thousands. Emily and Vortexia decide to go along with it because, after all, they like this song. They did exchange looks with you, and you couldn’t do anything but smile because you’re the designated boombox guy, your sole job is to be in the background supporting the main act.
It doesn’t go without issues, the lyric changes were clunky, and at times it felt more like Carol straight up forgot them, but Debbie’s words ring true! Music is another language, one where an artist of Carol’s expertise can express herself in ways more convincing than a rehearsed apology! You can tell how much of a convincing fucking phony she is! Like, it’s not derogatory! You’d believe her if you were in the other two’s shoes!
This three minute song ends with a buzz and a bang! That’s the type of music YUNG-P is known for! Even her saddest track holds a lot of power. You don’t know shit about music, what the fuck are you describing here? It’s good, that’s all you should say! Emily and Vortexia acknowledge Carol’s efforts, not by clapping, but with a nod.
“Well…?” Carol didn’t take into account how tired she was after everything that has happened. She’s exhausted.
“Were you trying to apologize?” Emily wants to make sure.
“What else does it look like?” Carol is pretty surprised this is even in question.
“A sorry excuse for one. Your heart wasn’t in it.” Vortexia shakes her head. Guess it was a bad idea to lie to someone who actually knows about music. You’re too cynical to believe they can tell, but they know more about music than you do, so it isn’t impossible. “It wasn’t a bad performance aside from that couple of glaring slip-ups.”
“I-It’s a start...” Carol can’t believe how harsh Clutz is!
“You noticed them too? I’ve never seen Carol make those kinds of mistakes before.” Emily didn’t want to be that harsh.
