“Of course, I’d love to.”
The Flash’s smile widens. “It’s set then. Wanna come with me to the teleporter?”
“Teleporter?” You say, curious.
“Yup, latest in Martian technology. J’onn made it for us.” The Flash walks down the hall and you both reach the entry hall of the Watchtower. There, a large circle denotes the spot from which people teleport in and out of the tower. The Flash disappears from your view and reappears in an instant with his hands proudly on his waist. The teleporter begins to hum.
“You activated it?” You ask.
“Yeah.” He points to the controls. “It’s always a head scratcher and I try a few things every time before I get it right.”
He was only gone an instant, but he tried various combinations?
He walks into the humming lights above the circle and invites you in. You step into it and suddenly find yourself in a sidestreet, near a busy avenue full of… humans. Technically, these were the first average humans you’d ever seen. They walk about from one place to the next, so, so slowly, many have devices in their hands, their physiology and clothing are different, and so many of them have clear genetic imperfections.
You feel disgust.
The Flash breathes in. “Oh, don’t you love that Central City air!” He says. You take in your own breath, it was polluted. “Anyway, race ya to the place?”
“I, uh…” But all you hear is a laugh and he disappears again, swift as a… flash. You’re alone in the middle of this urban scape. You remember the name of the place, and its location on the map, you could get there easily, but maybe not as fast as him.
>This is now a race. Do your best to keep up with him. Bolt towards the taco place.
>Let’s… slowly float there. See what human urban society looks like.
>Write-in.
