“Just one more, I believe. The sunlight is hitting the front of the cathedral at an angle I won’t be able to get later.”
“Alright, but father is looking rather impatient. I think we should be quick.”
“Henry’s probably just hungry. Besides, he’d need to wait for Alice and Lorina to get back from playing by stream anyways,” You comment as you bend down and get your camera in just the right position.
You're about to take the last photo you need of Christ Church before a great rustling in the grass behind you breaks you out of your concentration, “Mister D! Mister D!” Calls the voice of a young girl as she slams into your leg, momentarily making you lose balance.
You look down to see eight-year-old Alice Liddell excitedly shaking your leg as she looks up at you, a massive smile on her face. Confused you ask, “Alice? Where’s Lorina?”
“Ina fell asleep after reading your manuscript, but that doesn’t matter! I went back!”
Ah, so that’s what it is. Alice does have a rather overactive imagination, that only got larger when you started telling her the stories you had in your dreams to keep her and her sisters entertained. “You went back, did you? What happened this time?” You ask, playing along.
You somewhat expected Alice to step back and think for a second, but she doesn’t, “I saw the hare and hatter again! But the mouse was somewhere else! And the cat was talking to the queen when I snuck in! I think it was about something important but I couldn’t understand a word they said!” She rattles on.
“And what happened next in your dream?” You ask, hoping the young girl will wear herself out.
But she only stomps her foot and pouts, “It wasn’t a dream! I really went to Wonderland! I did!”
“Ah, right, of course, my apologies.” You say which causes her to continue listing off the things that happened. At the very least they’re good ideas to put into your manuscript, Lorina and Edith seem to think so at least when you retell Alice’s little adventures.
“And then-” Huff, “And then,” puff, “And then that’s when I left!” The girl exclaims as she starts to pant from speaking too fast.
You reach a hand down to pat the top of her head, “That’s nice Alice, but why don’t you-
