The field was filled with several dozen men loading their items into wagons. Many of these were the pieces of artillery that was commissioned by Duke Moriset for use in the war. There were a few Nobleman who were instructing the peasants on what to and what not to do, for without such supervision it was guaranteed that the trebuchet all would fail to have been loaded.
“For a man who drinks with dwarfs.” Count Remon spoke as he drew behind himself a large beast of a horse.
“Well thats nothing since they did not have any dwarven drink.” Pointed out Adok as the Dwarf happily walked up with the donkey in his hands. Truffles, the donkey that Lucian had for so long, was currently being measured by a peasant for fittings of a draft harness. Old as they may be, a draft donkey was perfect for a dwarf.
“Is that the horse that I will be riding?” Lucian asked as he looked the black beast over.
“She is.” The Count brought the beast over with a pull of the leash, “I did not think you would want anything else than a black steed underneath you. She has a good set of feet that could easily crush skulls and is broken for war.”
Lucian looked into the eyes of the horse. They looked back, focusing with something that was beyond any horse he had the pleasure of meeting. He had heard of the horses that Nobleman mounting to be intelligent but this was beyond what Lucian could have imagined.
It was the eyes of a predator, like a dog or a cat. Very much similar to Truffles Lucian would be quick to admit. Unlike the donkey though the Horse was massive. To the point where it easily dwarfed Lucian and was only comparable to the scythe that he carried within his hands.
“As we ride north you will get some time riding her. Get some experience between the two of you.” The Count said as he patted the beast on the neck, “Well then, Lucian, what shall her name be?”
>Name the horse.
