And the first update is right now.
>>5866552>>5866556>>5866561"We both kill one of them, the numbers even out, yeah?" Fahy points out. That's reckless as hell, but trying to fight defensively against four people sounds even worse. You're grateful they don't understand English.
With a nod, you set your eyes on a vagrant off to the right, and take some steps toward them.
Your axe is a more potent weapon than Fahy's machetes. It's meant to hack apart trolls. It would kill these people outright. It <span class="mu-i">should</span> kill these people outright.
Right?
The man you picked takes a step back and puts his knife between himself and you. Without your breastplate, you'd be running right into it.
And then, a leap forward. A pivot on the foot, a twist of the lumbar. He barely has time to adjust his knife when you pull the trigger on your jet powered axe. It scrapes the underside of your arm, but you feel nothing but the tug on your clothes.
Before you know it, your axe is lodged in the man's collar. The vagrant weakly raises his arm to try and cut yours, but the knife falls from his hands. There's no time for relief, as a larger blade comes level toward your neck. Your axe, firmly stuck in your assailant's body, can't be brought to defend yourself, so you have to improvise. You throw your arm between the blade and your neck and grab for the man's blade, who pulls it back and steps away. <span class="mu-i">That</span> you feel. As he goes to make another swing at you, the axe is free, and a warding swipe slings the blood of his friend onto his face to make him keep his distance.
From the corner of your eye, you see Fahy having a much harder time of it. He sought to tear into one of them, but he didn't manage as well as he did against the underdweller with the pilebunker earlier. All he managed was to just cut up one of their arms, and trying to fend the two of those goons off is not going very well for him. The machetes aren't a weapon of overwhelming aggression like yours. Not without that lightning trick.
Speaking of which, Saemus seems to be preparing to sling out some more.
>Flank one of his aggressors, paying more attention for your own health this time. (L1 Jarnafeldt: 5d6 t2)>Rush in and finish off the wounded man, leaving you still exposed to the man who attacked you. (L1 Jarnafeldt: 7d6 t2 <Brave>)>Let Fahy zap those two and overpower the last of your half of the ambushers. (L1 Jarnafeldt: 6d6 t2 <Brave>)>Engage your opponent with special care this time, you don't want a serious wound. (L1 Jarnafeldt: 4d6t1)
