Quoted By:
Lucian did as he was told, looking upon the statuette with even more reverence. It reminded the Knight of the miracles that he exercised on behalf of Morr. Only this was filled with life and vitality compared to the cold darkness of death Morr brought.
“Now you travel to Albion.” Albera said as she stood much closer to Lucian than she had ever been before. She gave a smile while looking upon the Knight solemnly, “It will be a long while for someone who does not mind a cold bed. Then again you seemed to have much more important matters.”
Lucian felt his face flush as bewilderment came upon him. His heart almost stopped as he understood those words in an instant. He was no fool when remembering Emelina of Carlton. But to think that a Damsel like Albera had heard of his odd rejection of her advances.
Lucian watched as Albera the Golden fashioned from her dress a thin white cloth. Taking the cloth, her hands danced across the right arm of the Knight before tying it with a firmness that ensured that it would never leave him.
A remnant, a memento of her person.
“Th-thank you!” Lucian could not help but exclaim with joy as his heart swelled, “I will honor you with victory, I assure you!”
“You will.” The Golden Damsel said as she rose into the air. Lucian had not noticed it but from behind the cow that he had seen earlier was now below the maiden like a stalleon.
It was obvious a moment later as the brown hair became white and a horn at the tip of its head became prominent. The creature of pure white that never in his life did Lucian expect to see.
A Unicorn.
“Farewell for a long time Lucian. I await your return earnestly.” The Damsel said as the beast walked into the trees outside of Lucian’s sight.
As she left did Lucian finally start to hear the voices calling out his name and the beastial roar that accompanied it. It seemed his companions were aware something was amidst and had come looking for him. But they could not beat the fay within such an enchanted forest.
