Lucian felt things were a little too obtuse for him to place a wager behind the village that was hiding from him. He heard Tyny claiming that nothing in the area seemed like the taint of Chaos but was that the truth? He had read that such taints were always hidden from view and sense, that people worshiping the dark powers had way to obfuscate them.
What if these people were doing so against them? To fool such a powerful nose.
“Sir!” Lucian knocked on the door once again as he felt a sudden surge of annoyance cresting his mind, “I ask that you tell me who is the Baron of this village.”
Lucian did not hear a response coming within an instant, which should have been the expectation of announcing such a thing. Surely something as simple as that would have gotten him a response.
“Sir, I am a Knight Errant!” Lucian declared as he yelled to try and reach the family within through the wood, “Who is it that is wanting to come and you? Is it your Baron, or someone else? Tell me and I may pledge my help.”
“I don’t hear anything.” Adok said as Lucian stopped speaking, “These folk have their wits scared through them. No reason they will listen to another person, let alone Umgi, here tonight.”
“Then there is nothing we can do. I will not abide us barging into their homestead without due cause.” Lucian said as he looked around the village, “There is a clearing right over there. Lets sleep there for tonight.”
“Aye, best we can do.” Adok said as he loaded himself back on the wagon with Truffles.
“Warmbloods feel terror tonight.” Tyny said as one of his eyes seemed to look over his shoulder, “Group should keep vigilance.”
“Aye, I can take any turn.” Adok said as he got the donkey to start moving to their camp.
“I’ll need the torchlight, so I will go first.” Lucian said as they made their way through the place.
The eriness of the village was still working itself on the back of Lucian. He did not fear it as much as the terror wanted him to see it as such. It was more curious to him though for he did not fear the death that was behind the shadows of Mannslieb.
These people surely did though.
