The map is done, there could be vastly more details, but I think the two versions I did (geography and named cities+areas+countries) are sufficient for the start. I'll probably end up creating a more detailed version and making notes on it as we go.
>hope to lessen the workload from the quest by worldbuilding in preparation
>the map eats everything anyways
fuck
Anyway, since no other suggestions came in reply to my last post, I think I'll stick with the 1d100 roll on significant battle events system. Economy will be abstract for the most part as well, but basically there will be supplies and gold/money. Players get gold from taxing the population and industry and commerce, etc. it is used for recruitment and upkeep of units (wages, replacing bad equipment) along with supply. Cities generate supply for the armies but have a limit, so you can't have too big of an army without splitting it up. Some troops do not consume gold or supplies but are straining magically (undead, elementals, golems) on the controller. There are also various special resources that are used for magic and stuff. That's the basics, anyway.
I am now going to run a test or couple to see how it's going to play, how to structure the world events etc. It may be as I said and the quest will begin in the last days of November.
Overall I'm feeling kind of bad about this, it seems to me my whole work is going to turn into "the mountain bore a mouse" situation. Like in spite of all my preparation it will still all collapse onto itself and I will disappoint my players. The map is very rough, and the worldbuilding is not as in-depth as I thought it would be, and the mechanics are pretty simple and abstract. But there is no way back now, and even if I end up with a subpar quest I'm willing to run it to its end.
I hope some of you are still looking forward to it.
