Your group’s first gunfight erupts when an interior NCR patrol is caught on the flank by the leading fireteam, quickly cut down by precise and vicious gunfire with nowhere to run. A few of the Legion stop next to the corpses and cut their scalps off, a grisly tradition you’ve only heard about.
The only protracted gunfight occurs when you and your platoon reach the same quartermaster station that you stole the information from a month ago. There’s an unknown number of troopers in the maze of crates and auxiliary equipment that makes up the center of the depot.
You finally have the opportunity to get down and dirty, clearing corners with the Q-35 and completely melting the defenders brave enough to resist. Two of your Legionnaires go down and a handful have superficial wounds but the last patch of resistance in your sector is quickly quieted.
The outer defense team links up with the main assaulters. You and a slightly bloody Marius stand over a pile of NCR bodies that were just pulled out of a barracks.
Marius: They had just a few patrols we stalked, but their defenses were just completely porous. We planted explosives around a few points of interest and sighted squad weaponry at what we thought were barracks. The base commander was too busy partaking in the locals to counter any real response. We took him alive, he wasn’t in any shape to defend himself with his pants around his ankles.
You take a look around the courtyard, seeing a small number of prisoners being penned in by a few Legionnaires. Flickering shadows play across the haggard faces of the prisoners. The terror on their faces is clear.
