>>5725066That's my excessive backdrop for saying every QM here is capable of doing it, out of all QMs I've seen give even half a rat's ass worth of a shot at trying to write. /qst/ is not special in talent or proclivities, it is one interactive medium of many. Yet I like it as an environ that remains its own.
The demands of other places are not different or lesser than here. If you update a web novel every three days, once a week, or twice a month, you are still going to think about it every fourth hour of every day minimum. That's how writing is. That's how creativity as labor is. That works for jackasses like me who can't just pick one idea and novelize it for a jerkface publisher who thinks they're hot shit until they see NUHMBURRS and backpedal into niceties, but things have changed very quickly over even just the last few years.
There are discords composed of thousandaire to 6 figure writers ranging from porn peddlers to webfictionaire's, and I can't say they're better than anyone here except in media literacy and the monetary way we most commonly measure individual success. Sans editing, I've beta read enough of their stuff to know they're not. Everyone's flailing themselves at paper, adopting the neuroticisms of writing daily or in 18hr drug fueled bursts and hoping it works out so they don't devolve into the starving artists they were before. Every garbage bin on the internet is a market for somebody, /qst/ is for people who want agency rewarded absent the concerns of market, and that's why I'm still here.
Because new weirdos and old fool QMs still half ass their way into fun.
I like /qst/ because the idiots here are different to the idiots in those places. People here less pretend their retardation isn't obvious mental illness or they're not equipped on how to do that because they're underage b& in body or mind which, enables fun or at least interesting times. Other platforms can provide that, but my experience is you get held accountable by people that actually believe themselves to be the kind of person who should hold others accountable. The positive way to put it is I don't have enough nickles of pussified give-a-shit to put out for shitheels basking in passive aggressive ego when there are enough places /qst/-like and questing adjacent including here to pick from I can have fun with other retards between workier stuff.
Another thing which develops alongside serials is the degree of feedback. It's not guaranteed to have more depth from one site to another, but any place that works with reviews will have more of it than here. No matter where you put your stuff, writing things you like always somewhat draws the audience you are. If that's not a mirror a hopeful writer is willing to enjoy, or at its worst endure, they'll never be prepared for the effort it takes to make anything good. Or pretend far enough for someone else to believe it.
