You check the Community Cards. A Queen of Diamonds, Eight of Diamonds, and a Five of Hearts. Okay, less motivating but surely this has to work out, right? You glimpse into Clover's mind but you get nothing. Checking on him, he hasn't even lifted up to look at his cards. He doesn't even know what his hand is?
"I'm trusting you that your friend didn't rig the deck so you'd beat me. Got anything else to say before we see who wins or who loses?"
You let out a shaky breath as you try to keep your focus. You're riding on a pair of eights. That's better than last turn. "Yeah. Speaking about cheating. That's a very admirable goal you set out for yourself but you're going overboard here. You're somehow fucking losing money with ROULETTE TABLES. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!"
Clover's yellow eyes sparkle with that same bizarre light to them. An augment, maybe, or something more anomalous? "Do ya think I actually want to run this casino like the other dime pinching, low-life scum of this City? Do you-" You quickly interrupt him.
"Oh! So that means rigging slot machines to spit out more than they take is righteous! That's how you're losing money, huh? With this incompetent idea of everything having to be fair!"
"It's not. A casino. Without slot machines." Clover grits his teeth. "Simple as. I don't like them but we're here to sell an experience to our customers. Besides, Kana would've told me if we were failing."
Casey immediately sinks into her seat, dreading the direction this conversation is going. "I-I, uh, about that. She didn't want me to tell you this but, uh, that's because she's scared."
"What?" An odd nervous chuckle escapes Clover's mouth. "No, that can't be right. What's there to be scared about? I'm doing everything right, her papers said so!"
"A-about that, sir. Those papers may or may not be 100% accurate?" Casey keeps sinking into her chair in a desperate attempt to escape the situation. Clover merely scoffs at the notion being presented to him. "That's bullshit. I'm doing the right thing here-"
You quickly interrupt him. "She showed me the paperwork! You're losing money in places that people should not be losing money in! Blackjack and roulette tables should statistically be making you money!" Your mouth contorts into a snarl. Your face feels warm, flush with rage and blood
"Yet you do STUPID bullshit like rigging slot machines, not offering anything else for making money, and not even hiring good security! I could've walked into your fucking vault and stole every dime without anyone asking any questions!"
"It's like this place is being ran by an incompetent BAFFOON!"
Clover's smile immediately disappears, replaced with a twisted snarl of a frown. "Do ya fuckin' THINK I want to be running one of these? HUH? DO YOU THINK I WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DISGUSTING THING?" You immediately slid right back into your seat upon hearing his voice shift. "I'm doing the best with what little choice I have here!"
