There were a couple worries that this man could cause Lucian if he were to pick the man up. First and foremost being that the person could be leading them towards a trap. Indeed the Peasant Knight wondered if this person was an elaborate trap set by Gillot for capturing him. Yet Lucian had not given to the young warrior any notice of their departure.
If this man seeked to stab them in the back, in a more literal manner, than he would find each of them a hard target. Especially so to Lucian whose blackened armor was built to be resistant to things like daggers through the gaps.
“Tyny, what do you sense from this man? Does he have any issues? Does he still bleed?” Lucian asked as he brought Nightshade close to the fellow.
The lizard replied to those words with a series of clicks and yips that were unlike the guttural grunts of the beast below him. Yet this was the tongue of the Lizardmen to the understanding of Lucian. One would call it a savage tongue, and Lucian would agree only to the extent that it was lesser. After all, it was clear that Bok could only speak in the tongue of the Lizards and no others.
“The man bleeds in his stomach.” The Lizardman announced, “Tyny does not sense magic, but mages can hide themselves if no spell is casted.”
“Alright, Peasant.” Lucian had his voice boom to gather the strength and attention it needed, “You shall ride with me for the trip to your home and no longer. I grant this to you this in the mercy of both the Lady and Morr. A betrayal of my kindness would be frowned upon by both deities.”
“Thank you my lord!” The Peasant cried out either not paying attention to the subtle threat Lucian delivered, not realizing it, or not caring as he steadily got to his feet, “C-can you help me up?”
Without a response, as according to custom, Lucian reached down and presented his hand to the man. The fellow lifted his hand from his stomach and took the hand of the Knight. With an effort of strength from both the Knight and the man, he was lifted onto Nightshade with only a whimper.
As the man passed Lucian though he could not help but smell the scent indescribable. While it was indescribable Lucian could not help but admit that it was pleasant to him.
An ounce of embarrassment came across the cheeks of the Knight and so he shook it off. With a snap of the reigns they moved once again towards the horizon of the rising sun.
