You could barely see anything, everything felt strange, unreal, you kept moving, you were beyond spent, beyond fatigue, beyond reason, you just needed to breathe, strange lights flared in your eyes or under them, you felt arms pushing you, you could no longer see or hear or speak, you were so tired, you just it to end, light shone dimly in the dark, you wouldn’t make it.
You breached the surface with what felt like a thunder clap, Icy wind cut at you, you couldn’t breathe, you were above the water and couldn’t breathe, you tried to suck in cold air and retched pink foam and tried to breathe in, only coughing and spluttering followed for an eternal moment that roused more panic, your vision blurred again and the world receded and you dreaded eternal rest had come. With a weak rattling wheeze you breathed in the cold air, nothing tasted as sweet or as rejuvenating in your life, your vision cleared and you collapsed on your back as your chest heaved greedily, you floated listlessly, thinking was impossible, all you could do was stare into the grey sky aimlessly as you drank the air desperately.
It was dark, not evening but leaden and gloomy, no less sweet in its reprieve for you though, around you was only dark sea with only a collection of sentinel crags off in the distance, some were barren, others crowned with dense pines or unhealthy sprices and a plethora of seagulls distantly sang ruchously, further beyond you spied a distant island, you prayed it was dragonstone, it looked similar enough and gods willing it was. You closed your eyes, you felt a fool, you had diced with death and nearly died for it, you had been mad, seen mad things and lost your mind for this foolishness of ancestral glory.
