“There’s been disappearances? I don’t read the paper much,” A well-dressed gentleman.
“That there’s nasty business, probably someone who escaped an asylum out there,” The woman who sold you the food.
“I swear that damn bastard took the stablehand. The lad’s been gone for least a week!” A guard.
“I heard there’s a man dressed in black with a top hat who arrives every night to take the bad kids away,” From commoner children playing with a ball.
“...No I don’t know anything, go away,” An elderly woman pumping water who seems shaken by the mention of the disappearances.
“I pray that those who’ve been from us taken will return,” A priestess.
Perhaps the most pitiful display was an older woman who owns a flower and herbalist shop. She burst into tears at the question, “Please good sirs, you’ve gotta find whoever did this! My twins would never have gone this long without coming back home! Please!” It takes quite a bit from Marie and yourself to get the woman to calm down. Asher stands around awkwardly during the affair.
Overall you don’t get much after a few hours of work, the disappearances don’t seem to be too much of an epidemic for everyone to be discussing them, only those affected. It makes you wonder if that’s the purpose, only those of lower classes have been targeted, and only those young and possibly old. The kind of people not many would notice missing.
There’s still a few hours before dusk leaving you time to investigate the docks themselves. Three noticeable ships seem to be bearing the crest of House Hyland. A clipper who looks to have docked recently and is still unloading cargo. A galleon who looks to be just ready to depart. And a galley without much crew aboard. The inquisitor also points you in the direction of a metallic skiff with an old man fishing nearby. He informs you that’s an inquisition asset for use in the loch. Should you want to go to the Hyland Clan or Metal Castle the old man is who you should talk to.
Perhaps it is more prudent to investigate the
