Starting out, the stealth takeover of the other tower had been going well. However, you were unable to account for absolutely every alien in the base. All it took was one person being where they weren’t supposed to(or maybe they were, you didn’t know), and your whole plan went up in smoke, just like that. Someone shouted and pulled out a blaster pistol to fire at the man who was in the middle of the process of webbing up his co-worker, and neither you nor Cat could respond fast enough. You guessed that there were limits to your good fortune.
The entire base went on red alert, and the two of you had no choice but to go loud and clear them out with as much efficiency and speed as you could muster without giving them any openings to exploit. You couldn’t help but wonder if this could’ve been avoided by paying more attention to your spider sense.
Or maybe, you and your partner had just made a move or a decision that had entirely unforeseen consequences until the flaw in your maneuvering had been exposed. A series of slightly unfortunate events that culminated into a giant mistake that would jeopardize the entire mission.
There was no helping it now. All you could do was get Cat to the controls and hope that she and Araña could figure things out from there.
“What’s happening!?” Araña asked over the radio.
“We got caught! Me and Cat are tearing through the base to reach the control panel.” you reported back.
“We were honestly pretty lucky to have made it this far without any major issues.” Cat noted, not at all bothered by the breakneck pace at which the two of you were running.
Every now and again, you’d run into opposition, only for the two of you to easily dispatch them with a series of acrobatic maneuvers and viscous takedowns.
By the time the two of you’d made it to the control panel, you could already see that your activity in the second tower was causing a stir in the casino. You’d have to act fast if you wanted to get to the vault without fighting your way through every alien in that base.
“Try and figure things out from here. I’ve gotta get into that vault!”
She gave you a quick thumbs up. “Don’t take too long. We’ve only got a few minutes before they catch onto what’s happening and try to override our controls.”
You didn’t waste any time replying, or even looking back after that. You practically flew out of the window and into the casino, hoping to blend in with the crowd of panicked people that were swiftly exiting the establishment for fear of personal safety, or just out of sheer curiosity.
You’d halfway made it to the elevator, before another Gray in disguise called out to you. You didn’t stop, and the alien pulled a weapon on you and demanded that you do exactly that. You didn’t so much as slow down.
