With the words exchanged the Duke of Bastonne faced the Peasant Knight. To he who was looked upon Lucian could feel the desire of wanting to be proven right. There were many ramifications about what was to be said but Lucian focused simply on the facts given.
“Agreed, Lord Guillon.” Lucian said as he courteous nod of respect, “It is odd that not you have received no assistance from the King. But I say my words with respect towards what he is dealing with. I have seen and slaughtered with my two hands thousands of Greenskins, do we know if he is facing the same or more of warriors from this… Norsca.”
“Lucian is right, for what forces is the King facing at the field of battle. There may even be hundreds of thousands worth of Norscan Marauders attacking the northern shores as we speak.” Moriset took the point and ran with it towards Duke Guillon.
“It still strikes me as odd that he does not give assistance in declaring an Errantry War for either us nor himself. Surely if he saw it needed that a mighty force that large was invading from the north that he would have summoned us to his side.” Guillon deflected with a bat of the hand.
“Is…” Lucian spoke his word, getting the two men’s attention. He saw it fit now that if he was asked a question that he was part of the conversation after all, “Is it perhaps not called for the safety of the realm? The North attacked by Greenskin and the heart ravaged by Orcs. Do the other realms have wars that they are fighting?”
To his question Lucian noticed a somewhat odd look between the men. To it was Moriset who answered, “I have heard that the raids by fiends far out in the sea have been growing more and more common. Not the same as a Norscan invasion fleet but our trade with the High Elves has become strained.”
“I have not heard much from the far south, yet I have not yet seen an Errant Knight from those lands either.” Guillon mentioned with what was further concern, “Even if there was no Errantry War such Knights do not lie down content with their lives. Maybe there is something happening that we have not been made aware of yet.”
“Hmm, possibly raids by Beastman.” Pointed out Moriset as he held further concern, “I have heard rumors that such beasts gained a new weapon. Instead of rocks being thrown they have started using sorcery within the firearms of the Empire.”
“Do not speak of such things.” Guillon said as he waved his hand before himself, “Thinking Beastmen could create Firearms, I have seen many of them wielding their spears backwards! I do not think they can even compare to a peasant with how intelligent they are.”
“I hope you are right, for Bretonnia’s Sake.”
