"Mind getting us a chair?" Your smile stretches a bit too wide. "If you're not too busy." Emily nods her head with a bit too much enthusiasm and goes to collect a chair. With what little time you have before she return, you plan out how to proceed from here.
"Any ideas?" You try your best to stop smiling. Best to not let Mr. Unstable fuck up this.
[UNSTABLE] OI.
"Focus on the objective." Alexis plainly responds. "We're here to recruit. And she wants to get recruits. All we have to do is convince her we're on the same page."
"Human harm, huh?" Something about that phrase is clearly unnerving Kiara. "Haven't seen an android with that hardcoded in them in a while."
"Wait, don't your kind have to follow the laws of robotics?" You raise an eyebrow. "I mean. No offense but I thought people would be paranoid about creating more of you otherwise."
[RASH NEGATED] Kiara's expression quickly sours but all she does is let out an annoyed sigh. She takes a moment to collect herself before replying. <<span class="mu-b">"Skinnies."</span>>
With renewed enthusiasm, she flashes a beaming smile and does her best to return to her usual optimistic tone. "Most of the older models had that but the only ones with it nowanddays are, well, her kind." You assume she means ones assigned to medical occupations. Makes sense. "That or for my, uh, primitive ancestors."
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] Androids are made to act and look like humans. You'd assume she's referring to regular non-human robots that have preprogrammed routines or need a controller to operate.
[PERSON OF INTEREST] Can they see you? Through her? Would she even know if they were?
"Duly noted. Sorry if I stepped on your toes there."
Before Kiara has time to respond, Emily has already returned to your group with a chair. Alexis promptly grabs the cheap plastic chair and sits down on it. "Listen. I get what you're doing. You don't want to commit human harm and that's respectable." Alexis flashes a knowing smile. "But remind me what your laws are again?"
"One! I can not injure a human or let a human be injured by inaction! Two! I must obey orders given by humans unless it conflicts with Law One! Three! I must protect my existence unless it violates the previous two laws!" Emily chirps out with an almost zealous fervor to her words. "Why?"
"Let's focus on that first one. Inaction. Now, inaction is nebulous so let us clarify it for you. Not telling us something important would be considered inaction, correct?" Alexis leans forward to look Emily right in the eyes.
"Correct!" There's a simple, matter of fact quality to her responses. You can't even really mindread her because there's no need to, what she says is what she's thinking. You rather not question how you can mindread a machine anyways, given the anomalous nature of your power.
"That's the thing." You decide this is your time to butt in. "What you're doing right now is harming by inaction."
Naomi nods. "Inaction is a far graver sin than harming through action."
