>>5704996Here is an example of narreme analysis lol, both Sense and Sensibility (1995) and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000) were directed by Ang Lee.
Well, both these films culminate in scenes of water-soaked girls being carried by men. There is Marianne being heroically rescued from rain-suicide ?? by Colonel Brandon (in England, the rain is very dangerous, very threatening to women); then there is Chow Yun-Fat's face after he realises he just saved an ungrateful girl from some cave incense poison or something, except he is now poisoned, so well he will just have to die celibate now. My understanding is that the potency of martial arts increases in proportion to years of celibacy.
I conclude that these two films and genres, wuxia and Jane Austen, are basically the same; all narratives should feature scenes of water-drenched girls being carried by men. I wonder what this symbolises...?
