>>5978527“I think what Marie here is trying to say is that the guard isn’t important to any of our lives so she's saying he’s like a side character of a novel or a mob character?” He doesn’t exactly sound confident, and he’s looking at Marie for confirmation.
“I guess that works.”
“Okay? But why use the word mob, does that word have any special connotations?” You think you’re starting to get it but- You’re interrupted.
“Lorina! I just finished your letter this morning, I had no idea you’d be here so soon!” Catherine says as she confidently strides into the room, “I’d have had the peons set better preparations should I have known!” Then she does IT, her hand is brought under her mouth, her middle and ring finger are tilted slightly below her index and pinkie, and that sound escapes her mouth, “Ohohohoho~!” Asher rubs his forehead and sighs, Marie has stars in her eyes.
“She’s right Your Highness, we’re really sorry for the inconvenience but you showed up out of nowhere!” Says a blonde older man with a laugh as he walks in behind Cathrine. This is Marquess Irving de Hyland, Cathrine's father, and ruler of this land. He has the appearance of a slightly goofy and friendly man, but appearances are deceiving you know from your lessons he was a ruthless merchant and economic cutthroat before he bought his title.
“But we are honored to have you here regardless, is this about that Inquisition business that’s been the talk of the town lately?” Says a middle-aged woman, Fionn de Hyland, whose commoner background is well displayed, preferring comfortable clothes to that of most traditional lineages. Perhaps that would be different if she knew of your arrival beforehand? Needless to say, she looks rather different from her daughter, style-wise at least.
The three of them take seats on a sofa, the mother and father, and a chair, the daughter, and await your answer. “Indeed, I apologize for the short notice but this has all happened rather quickly. I’m here with Inquisitor Asher and Inquisitor-in-training Marie to deal with reports of a possible Stranger sighting in your territory.”
“You’re talking about the Loch’s new fortress?” You see a keen look flash through the Marquess’ eyes, instantly deciphering your intention. Though apparently, he isn’t keen enough to know about the second Stranger in his territory, the one sitting next to you.
“Indeed, what do you know about it?”
“With the church's resources, you probably know more about it than us in all honesty,” The matriarch of the family says noncommittally.
“And information is helpful, even if it is only backing up existing theories,” You add.
“I think Ishbel said she could see it with her telescope,” Catherine says.
“Ishbel?” You question.
