>SELECTED: “I will reclaim the Ardenne for my people, or die in the attempt.” [Hearty]To the Brothers Cain and Adam, casting down the Dragon must have seemed an insurmountable task. An impossible goal. But nothing that the Almighty wills is impossible. The Brothers knew that, and their faith changed the course of history. You know that… and perhaps, through Him, you shall do the same.
You have long dwelled on this moment, wresting with your doubts and demons on your quiet days and sleepless nights. You know full well the measure of your determination, the gravity of the oath you aim to bind yourself to. The path ahead is long and torturous, deep with terror and wickedness beyond the ken of man. Perhaps you will fail. A sorry warning to some, an inspiration to carry on the fight to others. And perhaps that is enough.

Since that cursed night of Three Sister Moons the sons and daughters of Romaine have known neither peace nor respite. For generations, the fathers and mothers of your birthplace have raised daughters and sons knowing full well that their children and their children’s children will play, grow, fight and die in the shadow of that godless place. A sinister and pervasive corruption each spring, summer and autumn. A dire and existential threat each winter. Every year the blood of Romaine’s sons has sown the fields of their home. Aye, and daughters too.
Three hundred years. Three-hundred years of conflict. Three-hundred winters of suffering. No more.
“Know me. I am Sir Emile Andrei, son of Lord Nikolai Andrei.” Your voice rings out across the Plaza of Princes, echoing across the marble steps and up to mighty gates of the Crescent Palace. Every pilgrim’s hood, every stratiakos helm, every bare head turns in your direction. Every eye present, some thousand pairs of them, rests on the lone knight standing in their midst. You. “Hear me. On my honour as a true and faithful knight…”
The quiet in the plaza is pregnant, heavy with anticipation even to those that know nothing of your language.
“I will reclaim the Ardenne for my people!” You have seen much of the world since leaving home, you recognise that your trials and travels have likely changed you forever. But you are first and foremost a son of Romaine, and you will not abandon her. “Or die in the attempt.”
