“And I couldn’t be happier to see you too!” You gently grab her hand, all smiles. You start leading her to the Starlight Queen. The dining restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, a place with mostly college students, the place you fought Barry the Hobo alongside Osgood. What a weird day that was.
“I’m so excited...” Emily softly responds without losing eye contact, she is beaming as well. She walks next to you with confidence. Hand holding has never felt this natural to you…
“How have you been? Are you recovering well? No side effects?” You need to make sure your date is fine!
“I’m mostly fine, it’s just that everything feels... phony.” Emily has mixed positive feelings about her ‘transformation.’ “From my skin, to my attitude, my lack of appetite, and how people treat me. Nothing is like before.”
“How come?” You’re concerned.
“It’s basically a new body. it’s overall better, I have more energy and all — but it’s too different. Beyond that, people don’t look down on me for being fat anymore. I’m still angry at them, but I can’t be as blunt as I want to, I always have a thought in the back of my mind that forces me to be polite. And I can’t enjoy my favorite meals as I once did, everything tastes so sugary… I don’t know if these are the type of side-effects you’re wondering about.”
“They do sound worrying. But is it getting better? Or about the same?” You need to know the details.
“I can’t say. It feels like I’m quitting a bad habit. I’m in control, but it’s not easy. I know I will be fine.” Emily explains she doesn’t think this will last forever.
“In any case, you can always count on me if you need anything, okay? I’m here for you.” You reassure.
“Do you really not mind if I call you often? I don’t want to bother my new friends.” Emily is being vulnerable. “Me, Genesis, Natalie, we’re just starting to get to know each other, we’re not that close yet.”
“I can always lend an ear, trust me.” You don’t mind. Yeah, you’re busy, but you’re not that busy to ignore a damsel in distress.
“I will then. I said often, but I won’t be bothering you that much.” Emily will rely on you.
You arrive at the Starlight Queen. It’s not much different than last time, the relaxing atmosphere, the crowd, the music, it all mixes up together quite harmoniously! No wonder it has a loyal clientele that wasn’t deterred by hobo attacks. You two grab a table, and you inform your date that you’ll cover the costs of tonight’s meal.
What do you do?
>Ask Emily how things are going with her family. You knew things were rough before the kidnapping.
>Hype up the Concert! Tell Emily you were Carol’s first hater.
>Ask Emily about her job situation. You might recruit her for the secretary job.
>Eavesdrop nearby tables for fun.
>Write In.
