Real life came swinging, still writing just posting what I have atm
Between bites into a pillowy heaven of a folded pastry of nostalgia, you consider the encounter you had today. Multiple squads were attacked by people underground, at different points. What of it? Well, it could be that the under-city people had been looking to expand whatever settlements they had until they noticed the Stormwatch was coming back. If they're able to wrangle beasts, maybe... maybe Lorppo's on their side? The briefings you've seen shown he was capable of speech and had somewhat human-level intellect... perhaps he's a member of their group?
This is all so confusing. With a swig of beer, you zone back into reality and listen to the conversation for a good point to start asking.
“So it came from inside,” Sigrun groaned.
You could do little more than vocalize your confusion. “Uhh... huh?”
The manhunter looked at you with a cold gaze. “Me and Fahy were talking. The underdwellers knew the day and time we would start patrolling again. Somehow, they found out. Perhaps they could have seen us at the train station picking up recruits, but this time was different from other times. Saemus, you passed physical aptitude tests remotely and had experience dealing with criminals of your own, correct?”
“Yep,” Fahy said between sips of stout.
“And Fiona, you also passed the aptitude tests, and received tutoring from your poacher hunter father?” As you nod, she puts her hands together over he mouth, speaking in a more grave tone. “Ask any new hire and you'll find that they all have passed the aptitude test and have experience in their homelands. This training was expedient because you were all capable as it is. There is no way they could have foresaw that we skipped much of your training.”
Something clicks into place. “You mean to say...?”
The swede sighed, staring off into space. “Not that it's surprising. Sumika got robbed of her new suit, and that wasn't public information either. That had to have been done with intel on the inside, though some would like to place it as common brigandry.”
