“No? Should it? It kinda looks like it’s from a video game or something,” Midori says. You decide not to ask what a video game is for fear of having the reaction designated waifu did.
You decided to mimic Asher’s need-to-know attitude, “No it shouldn’t, anyways do you know what a metallic castle could be? If it’s describing something from Earth?”
Midori pauses to think for a bit, putting her index finger right below her mouth, “Only thing I can think of is a fort, maybe? Or a military base? It’s like a castle but from the future.” That makes enough sense you suppose.
“Inquisitor Asher informed me earlier that Earth outlawed slavery, like many of the civilized kingdoms on this world, so why is it that so many try to enslave when they come here? Oh, and also you used the word ‘isekai’ and from context, it seems to mean coming to this world, is our world common knowledge on Earth?”
“Well to the second question, not really? I mean there are stories of people traveling to other worlds and stuff but they’re just stories. None about this place either, at least not that I know of. As for the other question, uh, most isekai stories are power fantasy so maybe people that come here are trying to mimic that?” She guesses.
“Power fantasy? Is owning a harem of slaves really a common power fantasy? It seems… degenerate.”
“Uh, yes to both!” Midori’s smile and cheer seem rather awkward this time.
“I see,” you don’t know what else to say.
“Thrilling conversation topic aside, Lorina I think it’s time to decide what to do with our little prisoner here.”
“I’m a prisoner?” You both ignore her.
“I believe it would be wise to take her with us, inquisitor, but I would also like to hear your thoughts.”
He shrugs, “What I was going to do anyway unless you objected. I’m going to need to take her to the Ivern Abby to get this sorted with the Inquisition tonight, though.”
“A most reasonable conclusion, good job.”
“Hey- I’m still your boss!” Asher’s cry falls on deaf ears as you find yourself being tackled by Midori. As you struggle to get her off you find yourself almost regretting advocating for her.
