“Rise, Errant.” The Grail Knight’s voice roared in the ears of Lucian even as the warrior did not shout. Even as an Errant Lucian was still subject to the immense strength of will that someone of this man’s calibre held.
After doing what the Knight requested did the Grail Knight look around the area. Eyes of witchfire studied the field of corpses with his expression covered. Simply to say there was no secrets that Lucian could see from the warrior before he gave them through voice.
“You are Noble yet you tend to the dead, why do you do this?” The Grail Knight demanded to know. Such was the power of the voice that shook the core of Lucian.
Yet in his element the Errant did not know fear, “I serve as a stewart of Morr. While I fight in the name of the Lady now my life has always been at the Mercy and benevolence of the Death God. There is no reason, even as I became a Noble and Knight, that I would reject my duties when they need to be done.”
“And so through this service is how you saved Sir Osmond from Damnation?” Asked the Knight with far less force than before.
To say Lucian felt somewhat off guard by the sudden changes in the grandeur of the Knight was indeed true. Something told the Peasant Knight that the Grail Knight before him was somewhat an odd character even before he became a warrior of the Grail.
“I-I have done so for that reason yes. My war is against all who damned the dead, especially the monster who claimed the life of my family those nights ago.” Lucian made sure to point out, “It might even be the reason Morr has blessed me so.”
“You suspect the Vampire who struck out at you was seen before by the Gods?” The Grail Knight pointed out for reasons that Lucian did not know.
“Well, Morr is the God of Prophecy as well as the Dead. He might have known what my fate was and in his inability to overturn it, gave me the tools to survive and thrive.”
“Then your faith is stronger than most.” The Knight answered Lucian’s explanation with a statement of force that held some admiration.
“Thank you, my Lord.” Lucian told the Grail Knight still wondering what was happening.
